Detailed Setup and help guide:


The Smarter Home Device connects to your wireless network and allows you to communicate with Vantage using Siri, Alexa, and/or Google Home.  

Setup Guide

  1. Plug your smarter home device to power
  2. Connect to "Homebridge WiFi Setup" in your wifi settings and follow the instructions to add your device to your local network 
  3. Navigate to http://smarterhome.local and login with user name "admin" and password "admin"
  4. Click on plugins to setup and search for any plugins you wish to add
  5. Once added, you can open the apple home app to begin interacting using Siri (only for iOS users)

    3. Tip: Rather than adding all the accessories one at a time, you can quit the Apple home app to force all of the loads to be accepted. From here, you can click on the "organize home" option in the advanced section of the smarter home app to automatically create rooms and move the loads to their rooms
      1. To run the organize home app, first download the Smarter Home app
      2. Cancel the setup page and click the settings icon followed by "Device Settings"
      3. Enter the IP address of the smarter home device. You can find this by navigating to the web portal, clicking terminal, and typing in ifconfig
      4. Once connected, go to the advanced section and click "organize home." Other app functionality will be limited

Setup Guide

  1. Plug your smarter home device to power
  2. Download the Smarter Home App 
    1. iOS
    2. Android
  3. Follow the setup steps in the app to connect to your local network
    1. Once connected via bluetooth, enter your network info from the app and hit connect
    1. Join the "SmarterHome-XXX" network with password "smarterhome"
    2. Enter your network info from the app and try to connect
    1. If joining using bluetooth (device will automatically try to connect):

  4. Once the device is connected to your local network, click the + icon in the top right and select vantage
    1. Range should be entered as "startVID, endVID" without quotes. Example 1,1000
    2. Omit is a comma separated list of VIDs. Example 1,2,3,4,5
    1. Enter your vantage IP address
    2. Optional: Range of VIDs to be read in and/or VIDs to be omitted
    3. Design Center versions 4.0 and up require a username and password. If you have an earlier version, you can leave these fields blank
  5. Once added, you can open the apple home app to begin interacting using Siri (only for iOS users)

    4. Note: Apple home only supports 149 loads per smarter home device. The accessory will not show if there is over 149 loads being read in. If this is the case, you can set a range or omit certain loads from the smarter home app

To enable Alexa:

  1. First add the Vantage accessory using the steps (1-4) above 
  2. Select the Alexa accessory in the Smarter home app and follow the steps in the app to install
    1. Create an account here
    2. Enter those same credentials in the smarter home app. (username and password are both case sensitive)
    3. Add and enable the skill in the Alexa app using the same credentials in the account just created
  3. Once added, open the Alexa app and search for devices
    1. Select "Devices" -> "+" ->  "Add Device" -> "Other" -> "Discover Devices"


All Smarter home devices can be updated remotely for additional features and support

Currently the device supports:

  1. Lights
  2. Blinds
  3. Relays
  4. Thermostats


Scenes and timers can not be imported from Vantage, but can be created through the Apple home and Alexa apps

Apple home app allows you to set up multiple homes as well as share your home with multiple users. If you wish to control your home remotely, you need to set up a device as a home hub. More info can be found on Apple’s site: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207057


If you wish to control multiple homes using Alexa, you need to have a different Amazon account for each home.

 

Note: There are no updates or code changes needed to make this device work with Vantage.
